22nd Enzyme Mechanisms Conference

Sunday January 2 - Thursday January 6, 2011

Founders Travel Award

Tom Bruice, William P. Jencks, and Myron Bender founded the Winter Enzyme Mechanisms Conference in 1969 in order to foster collegial interactions within the community of chemists and biochemists interested in understanding the chemical basis for enzymatic catalysis and the regulation of enzyme action.

To ensure the vibrancy of the community that the Founders helped to create, the "Founders Travel Award" was instituted to support the participation of a Graduate Student or Postdoctoral Fellow at the conference. The endowment for this award is administered by the
ACS Division of Biological Chemistry.

Award
The award recipient will give an Award Lecture at the 22nd EMC presenting their research. The travel award consists of reimbursement of registration, travel and hotel costs for the conference, up to an amount of $2000.

Eligibility
Graduate Students and Postdoctoral Fellows. Postdoctoral Fellows must have received their Ph. D. during the four years prior to the conference at which the award is presented (2007 - 2010).

Nomination Procedure

Part 1. Research advisors should send a nomination letter that describes the nominee's qualities and achievements that merit recognition by this award. The research advisor should indicate that the attendance of the nominee at the conference is not contingent upon receipt of the travel award.

Part 2. Award nominees should submit a copy of their CV, a registration form for the conference, and a poster abstract describing the research that the nominee intends to present at the Award Lecture.

Submission. The package consisting of the nomination letter from the advisor, and the CV, registration form and poster abstract from the nominee should be submitted by email with the subject line of "Founders Travel Award" to:

tamyes@enzymemechanismsconference.org

The deadline for receipt of travel award applications is November 1, 2010
